Kamal K. Ray (graduate student)

I'm from a small south Asian country with fascinating natural beauty. I graduated with BS and MS (Chemistry) in 2010 and 2012, respectively, from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. After completing my MS degree, I joined the University of Iowa Ph.D. program in Fall of 2013. I joined the Tivanski's group in 2014. Currently, I am working on understanding the mechanical and conductive behaviors of organic crystalline materials. I like to watch and play cricket, badminton, and European football. I also like to watch comedy TV shows.

Hansol D. Lee (graduate student)

Hello! I received by B.A. in Chemistry from Loyola University Chicago, and joined Tivanski group in 2015. Right now, my research focuses on using the atomic force microscope to perform single particle studies of atmospherically relevant aerosols, particularly those that come from the sea and cool the Earth. Our mission is to transform our ability to accurately predict the impact that these aerosols have on the environment, by bridging the gap between nascent and lab generated aerosols. My hobbies include, but not limited to, playing volleyball, working out, watching movies, reading books, and etc.

Thiranjeewa Lansakara (graduate student)

I came from a small island called Sri Lanka. I did my undergraduate studies in the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and I completed my M.S. training in analytical chemistry from the University of Colombo. I joined the Tivanski's lab in Fall 2015 and I study interaction forces in biological systems and characterizing nanomaterials using Atomic Force Microscopy. I like to play chess when I have  free time.

Chathuri Kaluarachchi (graduate student)

I’m from Sri Lanka and I completed my undergraduate studies in the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. I joined to the Tivanski's lab in Fall 2017. Right now, I’m studying Sea Spray Aerosols using Atomic Force Microscopy, to characterize and identify several physicochemical properties that affect the climate.I’m a fan of books and movies. So, I spend my free time with them.

Eduard Popa (undergraduate student)

Hi! I was born in Romania and lived in Mount Prospect, Illinois until coming to the University of Iowa, where I live a very happy life and expect to graduate in 2019 with a BS in Biochemistry and a BA in Chemistry. I am pursuing a career in dentistry, considering specializing in either endodontics or oral surgery. In my free time I like to snowboard, travel, rock climb, game, stream TV series, socialize, and conversate. I appreciate of the value in scientific thought, and wanted to experience the research process and am happy to contribute to the Tivanski Research Group!
